Nandaras was born from a simple thought: that some things — a grandmother’s blessing, the fragrance of jasmine, the fall of a well-loved saree — should never fade. The name Nandaras comes from the Sanskrit nandana, meaning joy, and rasa, essence — the essence of joy that a beautiful drape can bring to a woman’s life.
We travel through the weaving heartlands of India — Kanchipuram, Varanasi, Yeola, Chanderi, and Bhagalpur — to source directly from families whose looms have been sung to for generations.
